For the past seven weeks, we’ve been immersed in a project working with the Healthy Eating Advisory Service (HEAS) team at the National Nutrition Foundation (NNF). We’ve been looking into what’s working well and which areas can be improved with the Catering for Good (CFG) Directory. Through this, we had incredible opportunities such as speaking with a range of caterers and health promotion officers across Victoria about their experience with CFG. From chatting with key people in the community, we were able to develop recommendations to continue to help CFG thrive, which we presented to the NNF team.
Additionally, we had the chance to learn about other programs like ‘VicKidsEatWell’, ‘Smiles 4 Miles’ and ‘Healthy Places Healthy Futures’, and even go along to the National Education Summit! We were able to develop our digital communication skills through building new resources and adapting existing toolkits. We also worked on developing our presentation skills through ‘Lunch and Learns’ where each of us gave a presentation to the NNF team about a nutrition topic of interest.
Each of us loved our experience at NNF, and feel incredibly grateful to have such a wonderful placement experience (+ the Richmond location is fabulous for us foodies!). Massive thank you to our supervisor Ricky Gelman for being an amazing mentor.
