In November 2021, National Nutrition Foundation, credited as Nutrition Australia at the time, joined more than 35 Australian health and medical organisations in a joint letter to then Prime Minister Scott Morrison following COP26 in Glasgow.
The letter called on the Australian Government to strengthen its international climate commitments and better embed health within Australia’s climate response, including stronger 2030 emissions targets, support for resilient health systems and further action to protect Pacific Island communities.
The advocacy recognised climate change as a significant health issue and highlighted the importance of considering health, equity and resilience in national climate policy.
