Roger has had a 35+ year career as a practicing dietitian and public health nutritionist, including over 25 years as a nutrition and public health academic. He has had prior appointments as Professor of nutrition and dietetics, public health nutrition and public health at Griffith , USC, Bond, Massey (NZ), UTAS and Swinburne Universities. His career research has focused on public health nutrition capacity building, intervention research and workforce development. He has previously served leadership terms as Deputy Editor of the international journal Public Health Nutrition (2006-2012)and helped establish the World Public Health Nutrition Association as Professional Affairs Secretary (2008-2014). He retired from academia in 2024 but continues to support students and practitioners as a mentor and supervisor as Adjunct Professor at Swinburne University.
